Turning rhetoric into an economic principle and then showing its impact on the US economy does a good job of separating correlation and causation, and in the process provides the reader with a reasonable framework for interpreting our current economic news and policies. I first read the book 25 years ago and still keep it on my nightstand as part of the recommended reading material for my Labor Relations course in college.
